CAREERS

We hire people who read RFCs for fun.

Nerve is built from the hardest edge cases first — the markets where networks flap, regulations bite, and providers fail without warning. That work rewards people who are curious about why something broke rather than satisfied that it is back up.

INGESTION Lagos · Remote (UTC±3) Full-time

Systems Engineer, Edge

The gateways that acknowledge in under 50ms are Rust, and they are the first thing every message touches. This is that hot path.

WHAT YOU'D DO
  • Own the ingestion gateways end to end — throughput, tail latency, and the durability guarantee behind the 202
  • Shape egress to each provider’s real limits so nothing is dropped downstream
  • Take the pager for the layer you build, and fix what wakes you

ORCHESTRATION Remote (Africa · Europe) Full-time

Engineer, Routing & Deliverability

Cost, latency and deliverability per destination prefix, decided in real time. The routing engine is where the product actually lives.

WHAT YOU'D DO
  • Model carrier behaviour per prefix and turn it into routing decisions that hold up at scale
  • Build the circuit breakers and fallback chains that make a provider outage invisible
  • Work directly with carriers on the failures that only show up in-market

PLATFORM Remote (Africa · Europe) Full-time

Engineer, Compliance Systems

DND registries, consent state, residency and erasure — enforced in the hot path rather than documented in a policy.

WHAT YOU'D DO
  • Integrate registries like NCC DND and TRAI as pre-flight checks that cannot be skipped
  • Own vaultless tokenization: PII replaced at ingestion, before anything is logged
  • Make residency and erasure tenant-level configuration instead of a bespoke build each time

HOW HIRING RUNS

Four steps, and you always know which one you are on

01

A conversation

Forty-five minutes with the person you would work with. What you have built, what you want to build next, and what we are actually asking for.

02

A real problem

One paid exercise drawn from work we have genuinely had to do. Take it in your own time. We do not run whiteboard algorithm rounds.

03

The team

Meet the people either side of your work — the ones who page you and the ones you page. Ask them anything, including the awkward parts.

04

An offer

Numbers, level and scope in writing, with the reasoning behind them. No exploding deadlines and no negotiation games.

WHAT WE OFFER

The parts that are usually left vague

  • Remote-first across African and European time zones
  • Equity in every offer, with the maths explained
  • Real on-call, fairly compensated and fairly rotated
  • Hardware and a home-office budget that is yours to spend
  • Conference and training budget, with time to use it
  • Paid time off with a floor, not just a ceiling

Not seeing your role?

We would still rather hear from you. Tell us what you have built and where you think you would fit.
